Vision and Mission

Our vision is of a society where reason and evidence guide individual and civic principles, and where none suffer prejudice for a commitment to rationality. Our mission is to nurture a community in the Miami Valley that values secular humanism, promotes and preserves freethought in the public square, provides supportive fellowship, and engages in humanitarian good works.

Light the Night

Join Freethought Dayton and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as we “Light the Night” and Walk to the End of Cancer! Freethought Dayton is walking for our second year as part of the Foundation Beyond Belief’s global team. The first $250,000 raised by the FBB team will matched by the Stiefel Foundation.

Why “Light the Night”? All participants who raise $100 or more carry a lighted balloon on this evening walk. It’s quite a spectacle to see the hundreds of lights floating through the streets, as people from all different backgrounds come together for this singular purpose. In addition to the warm fuzzies you’ll get from helping this great cause, everyone who raises $100 or more is entitled to free food and a t-shirt on the night of the walk.

Quote of the Day by Stephen Roberts

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours – Stephen Roberts

Superstition

“When you believe in things that you don’t understand

Then you suffer

Superstition ain’t the way, no, no, no.”
